Why We Sell Ella

There are a lot of walk-in tub brands, and most of the advertising is louder than the product. We chose Ella's Bubbles for three reasons that matter after the sale rather than during it.

Dual Drain Technology. Every walk-in tub has the same fundamental problem: you can't open the door until the water is gone, so you sit in a cooling tub waiting. Two drains instead of one materially shortens that wait. It's the single most important spec in this category and it's the one nobody advertises.

The range actually fits real bathrooms. 28+ models from 26 to 36 inches wide. Metro Detroit bathrooms — especially in Hamtramck, Ferndale, Royal Oak and the older Downriver cities — are frequently too small for the one-size tub a national outfit will try to sell you.

Lifetime limited warranty, and they're assembled in Chicago. Parts are four hours away rather than four weeks away on a container.

The full range

Six Door Styles, 28+ Models

The door style is the decision that matters most. It determines how easily you get in, and whether the tub fits your bathroom at all.

Ella Stainless Steel Inward Door walk-in bathtub

Stainless Steel Inward Door

Inward-swinging stainless steel door. The water pressure seals the door as the tub fills, so there is no gasket to fail over time. The smallest footprint of any Ella door style — these fit in a standard 60-inch alcove with room to spare.

Best for: Standard alcoves and smaller bathrooms where the door can't swing out.

What Matters, and Why

Dual Drain Technology

Two drains instead of one, so the tub empties substantially faster. This matters more than almost any other spec — with a single drain you sit in a cooling tub waiting for it to empty before you can open the door.

Hydro massage jets

Adjustable water jets targeting the back, legs and feet. Available on most models.

Air massage system

A softer bubble massage from the floor of the tub. Can be combined with hydro on dual systems.

Heated seat and back

Warms the seat surface so you're not sitting on cold acrylic while the tub fills. Optional upgrade, and the one people who skip it most often regret.

Hydrogen and microbubble therapy

Available on select models for those who want the full spa specification.

Low step-in threshold

The entire point of the product — a step measured in inches rather than the 15-plus inches you're lifting a leg over on a standard tub wall.

Molded seat and grab bars

Contoured seating at a chair-like height with factory-fitted stainless grab bars, rather than bars screwed into a wall afterward.

Lifetime limited warranty

Ella's Bubbles provides a lifetime limited warranty on the tub shell and door seal. Tubs are designed and assembled in Chicago, Illinois.

How Installation Works

  1. Free in-home measure

We measure the alcove, check the doorway clearance, and confirm which Ella models actually fit.

  2. Pick your tub

Door style, size, and whether you want hydro jets, air jets or a heated seat.

  3. Removal & install

Old tub out, new tub set, plumbing and electrical connected, surround fitted.

  4. Walkthrough

We fill it, drain it, and show you how everything works before we leave.

Should You Get a Walk-In Tub or a Walk-In Shower?

We sell both, so here's the honest version.

Get a walk-in tub if soaking genuinely helps — arthritis, fibromyalgia, circulation, chronic pain — and you'd actually miss a bath. The hydro and air therapy is real, not a gimmick, and for the right person it's worth every dollar of the difference.

Get a walk-in shower if you haven't taken a bath in years and just want to get clean safely and quickly. It's roughly half the price, there's no waiting for it to fill or drain, and for most people it's the better practical choice.

Get a cutout if the budget is tight or you're not ready to decide. $1,550 buys you most of the safety improvement today, and you can always do more later.

We will tell you if we think you're about to overspend. We'd rather do the right job at $1,550 and get the referral than the wrong one at $12,995.

Common Questions

How much is a walk-in bathtub installed?

Our walk-in bathtubs start at $12,995 installed. That includes the tub, removal and disposal of the old one, plumbing connection, the wall surround and full cleanup. Price moves with the model, the therapy package (air, hydro or both) and whether the bathroom needs electrical work for jets or a heated seat. Financing is available with approved credit and is how most of our walk-in tub customers pay.

Does it fit where my old tub is?

Almost always, yes. Ella makes models from 26 inches wide up to 36, and lengths from 40 to 80 inches, so there's a tub for a standard 60-inch alcove and tubs for spaces where nothing standard fits. We measure the alcove and the doorway before we order anything — the doorway catches people out more often than the alcove does.

How long do I have to sit there while it fills and drains?

This is the question nobody asks until after they've bought the wrong tub. You have to be inside before it fills and stay until it drains, because the door can't open against water. Ella's Dual Drain Technology uses two drains instead of one, which cuts the wait substantially. Combined with a heated seat and back, the wait becomes comfortable rather than something you dread.

Inward or outward swinging door?

Inward doors seal by water pressure, need no floor clearance in front of the tub, and fit tighter bathrooms — the stainless steel door models are the most compact in the range. Outward U-shape doors give a much wider, lower entry and are easier with a walker, but need clear floor space in front. We'll look at your bathroom and tell you which one actually works.

Can someone in a wheelchair use one?

Yes — the L-shape transfer models (Transfer26 through TransferXXL, plus the HomeCare Transfer 32″×60″) open the entire end and side of the tub for a seated transfer with no standing required.

What's the warranty?

Ella's Bubbles provides a lifetime limited warranty. The tubs are designed and assembled in Chicago, Illinois, and we handle warranty service locally rather than sending you to an 800 number.

Is it covered by Medicare or insurance?

Medicare generally does not cover walk-in tubs, and we'd rather tell you that up front than let you find out later. Some Medicaid waiver programs, VA benefits and long-term care policies do contribute in certain circumstances, and a walk-in tub may qualify as a deductible medical expense if prescribed by a physician. Check with your provider and your tax advisor — we can supply itemised documentation for whatever you need to submit.

Two people, or a very tall person?

The two-seat models (Tub4Two and Companion at 32″×60″, Escape at 36″×72″, Big4Two at 36″×80″) handle couples and larger frames. The Lay Down 72 at 32″×72″ is the one for someone who wants to actually recline rather than sit upright.
